Getting Started at Growing Mindful

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I work with people who experience intense emotions, mood swings, and intense reactions to their emotions like impulsive or high risk behaviors.

    • Intense emotions can include any emotion, the key being that when you experience the emotion(s), it seems like they are overwhelming and you may fear they won’t end.

    • Mood swings or emotion dysregulation means that your emotions often shift quickly and you may have a hard time getting back to feeling like yourself (think being on a roller coaster).

    • High risk or impulsive behaviors may include spending a lot of money when you don’t have money to spend, drinking too much, self harm, eating too much or binging, lashing out at people you care about, speeding, etc. Sometimes these behaviors are easy to see, sometimes you may only do them in secret like speeding or binge eating when no one is looking.

Sometimes you may not behave in risky ways but instead you may feel like all the emotions you experience are trapped inside and you tend to become angry at or blame yourself. Instead of “exploding,” you experience “imploding” as every negative emotion is directed inward versus outward towards others.

I specialize in borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, anxiety and depression, and my main approaches are DBT and Mindfulness.

  • I love working with young adults in their 20s and millennial women in their 30s-40s.

Although these are the typical ages I work with, I think people of all ages are amazing, and if we are a good match, that is the most important.

  • I usually identify one person as my client and if they want to include their partner or spouse as part of their journey, I am happy to meet that need. Although I do not provide couples’ therapy, I am happy to provide referrals if a couples therapist is what you are looking for.

  • Yes, I take insurance. I currently take BCBS, UMR, Medicare, Optum, Aetna, and United Healthcare.
